Tripadvisor Reviews

"Visited June 2016 for afternoon tea. By far the nicest one we have had! Delicious homemade cakes, fresh sandwiches and lots of tea! What a gem we have found here! Well done to staff who were lovely also! Yummy homemade bread and fudge as well. Def worth a visit but don't tell too many people :-) " - Spacey123, Newcastle

"Heading home to Scotland we visited on our sons recommendation and glad we did. If you are trying to lose weight avoid this little restaurant . Their home baking is exceptional worthy of "The Bake Off"and the food could not be fresher ,The staff ( family run ) very friendly . In case you miss it head for Alnwick and watch for the Eglingham sign . Worth the search." - Jim D, Biggar

"Lovely little restuarant, with very friendly staff! I ordered the thai chicken noodle soup - the BEST soup i've ever had in my life with beautiful homemade bread! All the cakes looked amazing but the Mars Bar Crispies were to die for!!!! Definately worth a visit and would 100% come back for the food again!" - Beaumcc14, Billericay

"This delightful family run eatery deserves the highest of praise. The food is truly exceptional served in very relaxed and peaceful surroundings! My personal fav being their home made pate but a good choice of savouries and soup of the day is available. You are spoilt for choice for cake to follow the lemon drizzle is to die for! Having found it we will be regulars from now on. Well worth seeking out, be aware they are open Wednesday to Saturday only!" - Roadkingboy, Morpeth

"Although I have already reviewed The Stables previously, I felt that I had to write again. My husband, my disabled mum who is in a wheelchair and myself visited on a busy Saturday lunch time. We had a delicious lunch, the pate was great and the home made tea cakes superb. All the food is lovley but it is also the staff who make this place such a delight to visit, nothing is too much trouble! It is always difficult to find restaurants that have disabled access and facilities but I feel that we have found a gem in The Stables, thank you." - Patntrev_11, Newcastle

"Visited the Old Stables a number of times with friends for lunch and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the quiche & victoria sponge - fantastic! The hot chocolate is the best i have ever tasted! Service is also excellent. Also some nice gifts for sale. I would recommending booking if making a special trip, it does get very busy. The lemon meringue fudge is also delicious!" - Vicky-3006, Berwick

"I popped in with a friend and her mother who are regular visitors - I now know why they go so often!!!! I have never tasted toasted tea cakes as delicious before. The bread is also amazing and so fresh. Baked at 3am every morning. All the cakes look delicious - especially the Victoria sponge. Not only fabulous food but the prices are so reasonable and the staff very friendly. There is also an assortment of gifts. If you haven't been you don't know what you are missing." - Lilian G
